UNIT 1: THE ANGLO-SAXONS (449-1066)
For this unit, we will be reading excerpts from Beowulf and writing a poem in the Anglo-Saxon tradition. You will need THE SYLLABUS, the ANGLO-SAXON POETRY NOTES, the BEOWULF POSTER DIRECTIONS, and my BEOWULF POSTER EXAMPLE.

UNIT 2: THE MIDDLE AGES (1066-1485)
For this unit, we will be reading tales from The Canterbury Tales, performing these tales in class, writing theme essays, and writing "modern" tales. You will need THE SYLLABUS, the Canterbury Tales Project Sheet, the PROJECT GRADE SHEET, and the MIDDLE AGES SUMMARY WHEEL.

UNIT 3: THE RENAISSANCE (1485-1660)
For this unit, we will be reading Shakespeare's Macbeth and Hamlet, watching Taming of the Shrew, taking in-class essay exams, and doing research (including a 4-page paper, Powerpoint presentation, and oral presentation). You will need THE SYLLABUS, the RESEARCH PAPER CRITERIA SHEET, the RESEARCH PAPER RUBRIC, the POWERPOINT RUBRIC, the ORAL PRESENTATION RUBRIC and the RENAISSANCE SUMMARY WHEEL.
